The International Institute of Equine Podiatry, Inc., a school dedicated to the study of the equine foot, was co-founded by KC and Robyn La Pierre. The Institute was incorporated in 2003. In March of 2007, the Institute changed its name, and is now D/B/A Institute of Applied Equine Podiatry. Since 2003, hundreds of thousands of concerned horse owners and horse professionals have visited our web site and have been exposed to Applied Equine Podiatry.

Applied Equine Podiatry: the shoeless alternative
The Institute of Applied Equine Podiatry is a school dedicated to teaching Horse Owners, Farriers and Veterinarians the science of Applied Equine Podiatry. Though it may be argued that Equine Podiatry has been practiced within the Farrier Sciences for many decades, at the Institute we use a model that is quite different from the traditional farrier practice, thus we have chosen to use the term Applied Equine Podiatry. Our teachings should not be confused with those of the Farrier Sciences in any way, nor should our practitioners be confused with those choosing to call themselves equine podiatrists. What we teach is unique, exciting and groundbreaking; it is Applied Equine Podiatry.
Our theories on the equine foot and the methods that we have chosen to use in the practice of hoof care are revolutionary and can be found nowhere else. The theories we speak of are those of the Institute's founder, KC La Pierre, RJF, MEP, Ph.D., expert on the equine foot. KC La Pierre has chosen to define his work as Applied Equine Podiatry.
The New Science of Applied Equine Podiatry: The conscientious study of the equine foot, always striving to expose it to proper environmental stimuli, making every effort to promote proper structure and function, as we attempt to achieve high performance. It is accepting the fact that the horse has the innate ability to heal itself and that the act of domestication has caused imbalance and broken the golden rule of "Do No Harm."
Our goal is to integrate the practice of Applied Equine Podiatry and Whole Health Hoof Care into the daily care of the horse, thus advancing the treatment of the equine foot to new levels.
Applied Equine Podiatry, as it is taught by KC and Robyn La Pierre, is based on the Suspension Theory of Hoof Dynamics, and the tool that they have chosen to use in its practice is the HPT Method™. On-going applied research and field studies guide the staff and members of the Institute in the development of its curriculum. Our founders believe that we cease to learn when we cease to question.
The members and staff of the Institute are always striving to further their knowledge of the equine foot through on-going research and development. The Institute's curriculum reflects an aggressive and open attitude by offering the most up-to-date information available.
The Institute offers a number of unique avenues for learning the art of Applied Equine Podiatry, with courses geared to both the Horse Owner and the individual wishing to embark on a new career. Weekly hands-on courses are hosted throughout the United States and abroad.
